On 29-30 April 2024, we had the pleasure of hosting the first Machine+Behavior Conference. This incredible event brought together a group of experts dedicated to exploring the dynamic interplay between machine and human behavior. Held at the historic Harnack House, the conference served as a pivotal platform for interdisciplinary dialogue, highlighting the transformative impact of AI on our society.
The conference featured a keynote by David Sloan Wilson on “Multilevel Selection: A Foundational Theory for All Darwinian Processes,” along with two days of presentations from remarkable speakers, an insightful panel with editors from Science and Nature, and two engaging poster sessions.
The diverse topics covered during the event – from ethical considerations in AI to advancements in AI-driven social systems – underscored the importance of an interdisciplinary approach to studying machine behavior. By integrating perspectives from computer science, psychology, sociology, and economics, we can better understand and guide the development of AI systems that are ethical, efficient, and beneficial to society.
